IV is an open forum.. where immigrants like me can join and express views.
IV is not paid for by just IV admins.. it is paid for by members and then members should be able to express views.
What is wrong about stopping something that is unlawful and illegal?
IF we are going to suppress free speech.. .. how are we different from a totalitarian regime?
Infact, how are we better than a suppressive and divisive organization like numbersusa?

Thanks for opening this thread.I am sure there be plenty of struggling stories to inspire us fight till we reach our goals. I like the way you are giving small snippets of stories without compromising privacy of the person.
If we can get permission from the person to print these stories on IV website , that would be great read and inspire lot of members.
This person's company promoted him to IT Manager with huge hike and then he learnt from company attorney that he cannot change his role while his LPR is in process. He then got demoted to Sr.Software enginner from IT Manager and the hike was rolled back
This is truly the shocking reality of the life of legal immigrants. We need more and more such stories to pass on to our senators...please keep on sending these stories.....

There are far more complex issues/mindsets involved as to why people do what they do. Placing yourself "in their shoes" and analyzing is not good enough in this context. Your analogies of breaking and entering a house/raiding your fridge are incomplete/shallow and hopefully you will change your perspective after reading the history between these two countries.
Nevertheless, it is what it is today in terms of geographical distribution of land and I am not suggesting, Mexicans have rights over California/Texas.
So why bring it up at all? l have lived in Texas in hispanic majority communities. I havent met any who want california or texas to be a part of mexico. If we start bringing history into it, then the only people who should be here are the native americans.
What I am suggesting is that motivations for what people do can vary a lot and folks like you and I who come here on H1/F1 or whatever after completing our fancy degrees, can never understand certain ground realities.

I know lot of my friends still waiting for GC since last 7/8/9 years. As you can see MY PD is Oct 2001 and I got my approval email last week.
So dont think that everyone who is getting approved with old PD has bought a Sub labor.

Go for another M.S. to maintain F1. It doesn't have to be a phD.

IV strikes a blow for the high skilled community!
Remember the time when members were ringing up the phones of Senators and Congressmen during last year's CIR discussions? I suppose we all came of age around then.. and grass roots members got the idea they could make a difference.. From then on, IV has been going from strength to strength, a snowball finally on the move.. leading to the flower campaign, then the rally, and now, this!!
My hats off to the core members, who have skilfully steered this sometimes raucous, but always enthusiastic ship.
I was going through my Paypal transactions, and totting up my contributions. The tally? not nearly enough!! So adding some more to the kitty.
Its a small price to pay for the biggest payback, of all: A voice!
